With the commitment and leadership of Louis and
Melvina Winters Sr. - enrolled members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe - the
program has provided services for 25 years. "We,
at Wakanyeja Tiospaye O’Tipi, Inc. recognize our most valuable
asset of the Lakota Nation is the children. Wakanyeja Tiospaye O’Tipi,
Inc. is the only emergency placement program on the Pine Ridge Reservation
that serves children 0-18 years. Without discriminating toward age,
race, handicaps, and psychological dispositions, we have provided emergency
care for nearly 6000 children since 1982. Today Wakanyeja O'Tipi, Inc.
continues to maintain these services 365 days a year and 24 hours per
day." |
